About the Ramblers' Rest

Picture
The Ramblers’ Rest is a former farm cottage that has been in the Nesom family for generations.

It is one of the oldest cottages in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds village of Millington and had been home to a cycle shop, an art gallery and an arts and craft shop before Angela Sissons took it on in 1985 and fulfilled her ambition to provide a cosy tea room serving delicious, home-made food for walkers, cyclists, villagers and visitors to the spectacular Wolds.

The  licensed restaurant and luxury bed and breakfast has been built on the site of the farm’s former granary that also doubled as a playground for the Nesom children. In fact, when the refurbishment started, Martyn was delighted that the cricket stumps that he had painted on the walls years ago were still very visible!

“Armed with a Catering A-Level and a passion for cooking traditional food using locally sourced ingredients, Angela devised her menus using recipes handed down from her Mum and her Nan.”
Indeed, in the early days, as tourism started to take off and the walks and trails around Millington became more popular, Angela enlisted the help of all of the family – from Mum and Dad to sister, brothers and spouses.

Nowadays, Angela has a trusted team of local people to help her out as the popularity of the Yorkshire Wolds and the reputation of the Ramblers’ Rest licensed tea room and restaurant and private dining facility continues to grow.
