Looking forward to completion of Ramblers Rest Building Works!

Apologies for lack of news this month to anybody that has been following the Ramblers’ Rest over the last  year. There has been lots of news to tell , but not alot of time to sit down at the computer to tell it/blog it!!

On a very positive note everything is going fantastically with the extension. The Ramblers’ Rest accomodation is almost ready to fit out with carpets and furniture, already chosen. Zoe and Gerald have been really busy painting, following on from our plasterer extraordinaire, won’t mention his name he will get bashfull, he’s the one on the right below in first picture!! See also one of the 4 spacious en suite rooms that we are all really proud of, almost ready to fit out.

The  Kitchen is almost completed. I tried out the ovens today with a batch of home baking. Really pleased with the result, the lads here appreciated the results also, and quote Nigel –   ‘The best smell that has come out of this building site since November!’ – I jolly well hope so too!!

We are still finishing off the restaurant area and putting finishing touches to the fire place etc… We are hoping to erect a large cartwheel on the chimney breast that once upon a time formed part of a cart that transported corn and sheaves from the fields, drawn by our farm horses. Jeremys’ Dad has also been busy renovating and painting an old cake breaker that fed cattle on the farm. This will  definitely appear somewhere, not sure where yet.

To finish off, just to let you know that, unfortunately, we are going to have to close the Tea Room and Restaurant after August bank holiday, until October. This is to enable us to finish building works, where we will have to knock through into the existing Tea Room. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this causes but Jeremy and I, Martyn and Zoe look forward to welcoming you in October to our new Ramblers’ Rest, with more spacious, comfortable facilities and fantastic accomodation but still with the unique charm, tradition and attention to detail that we feel is the Ramblers’ Rest.

I am working on the Christmas Menu and a new Autumn Menu at the moment, which  will be available from October,  December Christmas bookings are filling up fast.

I will put new menus on the blog but all details will be appearing on completion of  our website very soon. Please do not hesitate to contact us in the meantime for any enquiries and or bookings regarding the Restaurant, Tea Room and Accomodation 01759/305220.
