The Queens Jubilee Celebrations at The Ramblers Rest
We have had a busy Bank holiday at The Ramblers Rest. Despite the disappointing weather people still turned out to enjoy the celebrations. Traditional afternoon tea proved popular, fresh sandwiches filled with local homecooked Roast Ham and Coronation Chicken and a wide selection of homemade cakes and pastries, our Cream and Strawberry Scones were a definite favourite, along with ‘Victoria Sandwich Cake’ and Sticky Orange Drizzle Cake.
We had a busy week in the accommodation with a variation of guests. Cyclists doing the Way of the Roses, walkers doing The Wolds Way long distance walk and then a lovely family here for the weekend to celebrate their daughters wedding at nearby Huggate church.
Looking forward to a busy Summer season. Lets hope the weather improves and everyone can enjoy the picturesque wolds walks, cycle routes and scenic drives in our area without getting wet! Then, come and indulge in a light lunch or afternoon tea sampling a Ramblers”‘ Rest Platter with our delicious Home cooked Ham and Selection of Cheeses, Chargrilled Black Pudding with Melted Stilton and Braised Red Cabbage or Fresh Salmon Pate garnished with Tiger Prawns and Smoked Salmon with a Sweet Chilli dressing. Finishing off with Bramble and Apple Pie with crumbly Shortcrust Pastry or a Fresh Cream Meringue……
Look forward to welcoming you and please feel free to call Angela on 01759 305220 for further info on The TeaRoom and Restaurant or Zoe on 01759 303292 for Accommodation.
Growing Routes enjoy Evening Dinner at The Ramblers’ Rest

We had a very enjoyable evening at The Ramblers’ Rest when George Hamilton and Dennis Jones from Growing Routes brought their team for their belated Christmas get together and to present me with a Plaque from Growing Routes, illustrating their support of The Ramblers’ Rest in the development of The Tea Room and Restaurant and Quality B&B Accommodation.

‘The Ramblers’ Rest has been very fortunate to have had a great deal of support from Growing Routes throughout its development, from the very early stages of planning up to present day.We were introduced to George first, during the early days of our ‘dreams’ to expand, and he then went on to help, advise and prepare us for our Grant Application to Yorkshire Forward. (Growing Routes was founded by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, with the support of Yorkshire Forward to help new and existing farm/rural businesses.)
Successful with our application and building works well on the way, Growing Routes continued their support in the ‘form’ of Dennis Jones by offering us a Mentor to help with areas of our business that we felt would benefit from this service. Over the last year we have been extremely lucky to have had a fantastic mentor, Tracey Baty of three60 marketing and pr, based in Shiptonthorpe, who has helped us in so many ways, offering knowledge and expertise and always with bags of encouragement and enthusiasm for what we want to achieve from The Ramblers’ Rest.
I would like to say a very big thankyou to George, Dennis and Tracey and wish Growing Routes continued success in providing the time to offer invaluable advice, support and ecouragement to small rural businesses.
Springtime at The Ramblers Rest, Milllington
At last, the weather is improving. The Wolds landscape is slowly recovering frome the frosts and a green hue is emerging once more. The village will soon be awash with daffodils and Millington Wood 1/2 a mile from the Ramblers’ Rest in Millington village will soon be well worth the visit when it becomes carpeted with acenites and snowdrops and other spring flowers.

Building work for the new Restaurant and Accomodation is coming on really well. All the levels and walls to rooms on the ground floor are completed and the stud walls on the first floor showing the layout of the Bedrooms are almost all in place. Plumbers and electicians will be starting after Easter so we are busy making all important decisions re Lighting etc…
With the weather improving it is nice to see more walkers and cyclists visiting the Village and The Tea Room again, and we look forward to welcoming you over the Easter period. If you are unfamiliar with The Wolds and the Millington area please do feel free to enquire with us at The Tea Room regarding Walks, we will be happy to reccommend ‘Our Favourites!’ The Tea Room and Restaurant will be open Good Friday through to Easter Monday from 11AM serving Light Lunches. Enjoy a hearty bowl of warming Homemade Soup, a selection of Tasty Sandwiches and various Specials or spoil yourself from a selection of Fresh Homemade Cakes including Fresh Cream Scones and Meringues, Raspberry Bakewell Tart, Traditional Buttered Fruit Bread and lots more!!
We wish all our Customers a Happy Easter!
